Sunday afternoon on the quads - 22 Feb 2006
The quads are great fun as well as an excellent form of transport down here. They are easy to ride and go just about anywhere and are much more comfortable than a Hagg trip.
Being a bike rider, I have found the transition to quads quite easy. They are a cross between a dirt bike and a 4 wheel drive. Having driven both 4 wheel drives and ridden dirt bikes I am quite at home on the quads and enjoy getting out and about on them. Today was just a bit of fun on a Sunday arvo. We spent a few hours out and visited the old Airplane wreck site. Unfortunately the recent snows have covered the last of the wreckage up again so all we saw was masses of nothingness and snow, but it was pretty none the less. The GPS told us we had parked our quads directly over the wreckage but nothing could be seen.
Then we headed over to the old Wilkes station, via the skyway. The long straight run of the skyway gave us an excellent excuse for a few fishtails and a bit of blue ice ensured the boys got some circle work happening as well.
Shane had not been to the old Wilkes station so we had a poke around for a while and then we headed home and arrived in time for diner and a movie before a new week of work began again.
