X-mas Day - and Santa and his elves - arrive at Casey.

Settling in did not take long. The summer scientists who were already on station welcomed us all. X-mass day turned out to be a great one. The sun was out and the weather was glorious. The chefs worked tirelessly to create a feast the like of which I don’t think I have ever encountered in my life before that day.
Santa and his elves came to visit by abseiling down the fireplace. There were a few muttered curse words as Santa's suit and the abseiling ropes became intertwined. One of the elves got stuck half way down and then landed unceremoniously with a thump and rolled out of the fire place on the floor. We all roared with laughter - with her - not at her of course! ;o]
X-mass gave us all a chance to wind down and relax a little after the very hectic start to our season. Over X-mas and the New Year friendships were formed and cemented. Both the summer and winter crew bonded, scientists and tradies alike. It was a fabulous time.
