June 26th - July 2nd

This week I kicked quite a few goals at work. Finally we had one good day of clear skies and no wind so Andrew and I headed out to the Receiver Site and completed repairs to one of the Antennas that had been waiting for attention. Inside the Receiver hut we also completed repairs to equipment.
Over in the Anaresat building one of the modems that went US late in summer was finally repaired and put back into operation as well as other work .
A quick visit to the Transmitter farm to carry out my monthly HF servicings found an open circuit antenna. Investigations discovered a broken feeder, so we scrounged around and found the parts required and fixed that on the spot. So all in all, a good week at work. Lots was achieved and job satisfaction was very high. I must say, I am enjoying being back on eh tools and working as a tech again. There is so much equipment to work on and work to do down here, that every day is a different. The time is flying by.

On the weekend Robbie went away and I cooked again for Saturday night dinner. I did my usual Chinese feast followed by deep fried ice-cream sitting on a bed of chocolate cream with Kahlua sauce. I am quite at home in the kitchen now and enjoy the challenge of cooking.

On the art side of life I have started my new Lead-lighting project. This new piece is a mirror with a difference. I am hoping when it is finished it will be absolutely fabulous. So stay tuned for a piccie when it is completed: perhaps in a few weeks. I am enjoying lead-lighting immensely and work on it as often as I can find time to.
I was also bullied by Andrew and John into commencing work on my Hanger rat. “Hanger Ratz” are balsa wood gliders which come in kit form. We are having a few weeks of trials commencing in two weeks and I was running out of excuses for not having made mine yet. Finally John MADE me sit down and work on it with a few instructions form him. I had tried to get him to make it for me, but he protested that there was no satisfaction in that a tall. As it turned out, it was a bit of fun in the end.

Next weekend I am off for 3 days to Browning. Shane, Petie, Brian and I are going to climb the face of Motherway Island. Motherway Island is just off the Browning Peninsular, overlooking Vander Ford Glacier. On one side is a sheer rock face that is just begging to be climbed. I am looking forward to the trip. 3 days away will be nice. I am hoping the weather God’s are kind to us all. We will fly down on the sea ice on the quads, past my beautiful blue Bergs at Sparkes Bay and on to the Browning Peninsular.

So until next week: Hope all your adventures are as fun as mine.

Cheers
Trace :o]
