19th SEP – 1ST OCTOBER. A MUCH BETTER WEEK.
It’s not in my nature to stay down for long.
Ok: so I lost the love of my life. Couldn’t have been the love of my life or I wouldn’t have had to say goodbye to him would I? People come and go in your life and this is no different. You live, you love, you learn, you move on. Chapter closed.
So: - moving right along …
I started a new weights and cardio program this week. I have put on 3 kilos since February and I am not happy about it. It doesn’t sound like much but it is half a dress size to me and I want to get rid of this tubby layer that has developed over winter.
I am seriously lacking in motivation at the moment so really need to work hard at this program. I have been at it for a week now and I never realised how much condition I had lost. It will be about 4 weeks I think before I am back up to a decent fitness level and the muscle pain associated with a new weights training program ends. In the end it will be worth the pain and I will back to my old fitness levels and feeling fantastic. I have a heap of new clothes coming in on V1 in 4 weeks time. These are for when I get back home. Even so, they will be a HUGE motivation for me as they are all fabulous summer clothes. Two gorgeous summer dresses, a few nice tops and two pairs of Capri pants. All you blokes wont care, but the ladies will understand! ;o]
Antarctica must have decided to give us all a break with the weather. We have had three absolutely gorgeous days this week. Also, the days are getting longer quite quickly now. Only a week ago I was running at 5:30 with the light on in the cardio room. Now, there is light outside at 5:30 so I can see outside the window. It is lovely - on the nice weather days – to watch the skies turn that beautiful Casey pink and blue as the day starts. Mind you, as I sit and type this I have blowing snow outside my window. In fact there is a little snow tornado skimming past right at this minute. So perhaps our winter isn’t over quite yet.
Andrew and I are still busy at work. This week saw some more install work. We fitted the second radar to one of the Haggs and (Andrew mostly) installed a VHF radio into the new Smidt Snow blower that will go up to Wilkins airstrip for the summer. I serviced all the radios in preparation for the summer onslaught, making sure the repeater and all the emergency channels were all working and also tested all of our antennas for S/N to make sure all was as it should be. A few adjustments here and there and all is good to go for the summer season, which starts in 3 weeks time when the science Boffins all arrive.
Saturday I completed my final Lead-light project, so they are all done now. I still have my wooden bowl to finish turning on the wood lathe and that will be ALL my projects completed. Then it is simply a matter of the chippies making some solid wooden freight boxes for me to ensure everything reaches home in one piece.
There was a bit of an arts/crafts display last night where we all put on show the projects made during the winter. There are some very talented people amongst this bunch I have to say. Only natural I guess seeing we are all supposed to be some of the best in our field. Of course that doesn’t include me – I STILL can’t work out how I got a job done here – there must be a defiantly skills shortage in my area of expertise! Ha ha. In fact Andrew usually fires me at least twice every week. Sucked in to him because there isn’t anywhere for me to go. Funny stuff.
We had our final winter dinner last night – and yes, I have a terrible hangover today and am feeling a tad seedy so I’m off for another dose of Panadol.
