7th – 12th November. ANOTHER WEEK DOWN.
Work, work and more work. Though with the help of our two Comms operators this past two weeks, life is a lot less hectic than it was all winter. Andrew and I were off in the Green Store working the other day and we actually decided to stop in at the mess on the way back to the workshop and have a cuppa. I can’t actually remember the last time we had time to even contemplate this, let alone waste 20 mins sitting on the front porch watching the bergs and chatting over a cuppa! So life is better in this regard. We are not as stressed as we have been now that we have some helpers.
The weather has been pretty miserable. Today doesn’t look too bad, so after posting this I am off to Shirley Island for a few hours of walking and to check out how all the penguins are going. In another month or so we might have some chicks around with a bit of luck.
Being here for a year and watching the whole life cycle of the wildlife has been pretty special. It is nice to see the animals and birds return and breed then watch the babies grow.
Anyway, it really is the same old same old. Quad down to visit the seals, walk over the Shirley and visit the penguins, get up and go to work …. blah blah blah. You have heard it all before so I won’t bore you with it over and over.
The ship is currently stuck off Mawson. Bad weather has prevented getting anyone off the station for their crew changeover, so currently they are 4 days over schedule. This has me quite concerned. The longer they take, the more likely it is they will be late picking us up. This is not a good thing because I really do just want to come home now. I have two more trips away – one to Robbo’s next week and one to Jack’s a few weeks after that. I have seen and done everything I can possibly squeeze into this place and when I come home I will be content in the knowledge that I couldn’t possibly have done more while I was here. So I am ready to leave. Everything I am doing now is just more of the same thing. It is great and I am enjoying it however, it is time for me to come home and start my life over once more.
Ok, till next week – which will be a Monday rather than a Sunday posting because I will be away – Have a good one everyone.
A big cosmic hug goes out to my good friend Mark O who hasn’t been feeling too great of late. (that was supposed to rhyme buddy. It’s bit hard to be cute in a Blog post ;o]) Feel better soon Gorgeous.
And another big cosmic hug to “The Bloke”. Hope that ticker has been sorted. You take it easy my friend.
